So I quit uni for now. I'll go back later sometime, either next year or the year after. Can't be screwed explaining why but anyhoo...
Since I quit uni I've had to look for work. I'm trying to save for a long, extended trip in europe. The first job I got was at Lenards Whitfords. I worked there for two weeks, quiting after the first.
Getting the job was surprisingly easy. I handed in a resume using Seek then a few days later I got a call. I had a face to face 'interview' at 10:30am in the morning (I didn't sleep at all beforehand, not because of nervousness just from being a general all night psycho type). It was like 'you think you'll be good?' and I was like 'Yes, I do.' and then I started the next day.
I was the sausage boy and oh how they loved me. they would say 'sausage boy! sausage boy! we love you!' and I would laugh heartily and pat them on the back. I had to make the mince, which is actually made of meat, half of which is trim (left over bits of fat) and the other half is this... I'm not sure what it was. They called it 'hen' but it was like 5 kilo clumps of frozen meat that I had to cut up. Then I put it through a mincer once. Then I added powdery flavour cores and vegetables where applicable then minced it all again.
Near the end I accidently used 3 litres of water where I was suppose to use 1 and that was quite bad. The next day they said 'oh, that was watery, just use 300 mls of water!'. So I nodded and then used the normal amount. If any lenardians find this, then yes, I admit my guilt. In writing, as of now.
I also made patties and schnitzel and other stuff like that and I also minced the pet food. Pet food consists of chicken carcasses....and thats it. I pushed them through the mincer into a big box and then put it in bags. I dont want to be a pet.
Being tall was also a bit of a hazard, I think I banged my head about 12 times, especially on the freezer door. I'd pick up a heavy box, straighten up to carry it, and then bang and then ow.
The people were all quite nice and friendly. I didn't really get to know them because I didn't really say anything.
I quit in the end cause it was hard work for minimum wage. I've got a much better job now and I'm making a killing. More news on that later!
